Midthunder Productions was created by independent filmmaker Angelique Midthunder in order to create films that touch the lives and hearts of viewers. A diehard humanitarian and conservationist at heart, Angelique believes in education through entertainment and focuses on producing films that have a higher purpose.
Midthunder Productions is made up of a diverse combination of established and upcoming independent filmmakers whose highest goal is to effect social change through raising awareness of important social and ecological issues.

America's First Horse: The Spanish Mustang

America's First Horse tells the story of the Mustang through the eyes of Frank Hopkins, a legendary “halfbreed” who was the first proponent of the Indian Pony. It reveals the history of the Spanish Mustang in North America , showcasing the relationship between the horse and Native American societies. It sheds light on the government slaughter campaign of the horses while those like Gen. Custer and Gen. Cook attempted the genocide of the American Indian.

America ’s First Horse was written and produced by John Fusco (THUNDERHEART, SPIRIT: Stallion of the Cimarron , DREAMKEEPER , HIDALGO ), narrated by Viggo Mortensen (LORD OF THE RINGS, HIDALGO ), and directed and produced by Angelique Midthunder (RESERVATION WARPARTIES, SILENT THUNDER).

Aired on Animal Planet, can be viewed as DVD-ROM featurette on feature film HIDALGO DVD.
